Our Story
Nurturing a passion for teaching from a young age, Learning Beyond Walls founder Ashlie grew up in the North of England, completing her BA (Hons) Primary Teaching degree in 2008 (specialising in English Language). She found traditional teaching to be an extremely rewarding experience, working with children from preschool to the end of primary education. Building her knowledge over the past decade, she also gained specialisations supporting individuals to overcome specific learning barriers such as visual impairments, autistic spectrum disorders and ADHD.
Spending more time doing paperwork and less time with the children, she fell in love with tutoring - finding this to be the perfect space to nurture individual needs and develop a child’s learning aspirations. After the birth of her daughter Fern, she began to further re-evaluate the path of her teaching journey, aiming to strike that perfect blend of limitless learning and measurable results.
Channeling creativity, enthusiasm for individualised support and a drive to refine alternative learning methods meant growing beyond the traditional school setting.
Learning Beyond Walls Was Born
Providing more than a ‘prescribed curriculum’, Ashlie combines her love of nature, teaching and children to create a rewarding environment for learning and discovery.
Learning Beyond Walls is a pre and primary aged tutoring service with a fundamental difference; we place child learning and discovery at the centre of all we do, rather than regurgitating a rigid curriculum. Nevertheless, we value a child's progression and subsequently align learning workshops with the Early Learning Framework and the Australian Curriculum.
